Park Chan-wook has gained an amazing reputation thanks to his Korean movies such as Oldboy and Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance. Next spring we’ll get to see his first English language effort, the vampire drama Stoker, and now Variety reports he’s sticking with English as he’s in negotiations to direct the languishing Western The Brigands of Rattleborge for Warner Bros.
The project has been around since August 2006, when the studio acquired the script by S. Craig Zahler. It’s about a sheriff and a doctor, who team up to seek revenge against the band of outlaws who’ve robbed their small town. The screenplay made the Black List in 2006, but has been stuck in development due to its incredibly violent content. It is said that a major star will likely have to come on board for this project to finally move forward.
It isn’t known when the movie might shoot.
