Mark Webber is an actor who it always feels should be getting better roles than he normally does (he’s also got a fascinating backstory, having lived rough with his mother when he was a kid).
While he’s popped up in Scott Pilgrim and various other movies, he’s never really broken out, but now he’s scored the lead role in Angry Little God, a remake of the Thai thriller 13: Game Of Death, which Last Exorcist helmer Daniel Stamm will direct.
Webber will play a man who’s in over his head financially and signs up for a game show in which he can win $6 million if he can execute 13 different tasks. As you might guess, it gets a lot more complicated than there, and apparently there’s a limit to what humans can and will do for a major cash windfall, with the show asking him to do ever more terrible things, and he realises he may not get out alive.
David Birke is writing the script, which Stamm will take on once he’s completed work on his new horror movie, The Darkness.
