Carey Mulligan is fast becoming one of the best actresses around, with a sharp eye for strong projects. She’s now in talks to go femme fatale in the black comedy thriller, Nancy & Danny, according to THR.
The film is described as being, ‘Set in a small town, the project concerns a money-hungry woman (Mulligan) whose big-city dreams failed. In order to land a high school crush, she uses a hapless man as a pawn in a get-rich-quick scheme that quickly goes wrong.’
The script is said to be similar in tone to Gus Van Sant’s 1995 To Die For, which starred Nicole Kidman as a scheming weather woman.
James Marsh, the filmmaker behind the acclaimed documentary Man on a Wire, is on board to direct Nacy & Danny from Brad Ingleby’s script. Mulligan must be keen as she apparently pursued the role, rather than the makers coming to her.
