Few actors have had the chance to hit the A-list at lightning speed like Taylor Kitsch. This year John Carter, Battleship and Savages have given him the chance to be a huge star, but sadly none of the movie has really caught on at the box office.
Hollywood isn’t giving up on him, as according to Zap2It DreamWorks has offered him the lead in a movie based on the videogame Need For Speed.
It should be noted that the studio denied an offer has been made, although insiders claim he is the only contender for the part. Scott Waugh has signed on to direct the movie from a screenplay written by brothers George Gatins and John Gatins. The project is adapted from the long-running Electronic Arts videogame racing franchise, although no story details are given. DreamWorks is seeking to launch a franchise similar to the Fast & Furious series.
Last month a 2014 release date was set, although it isn’t known when production will begin.
