Act of Valor co-director Scott Waugh has signed on to helm DreamWorks’ video game adaptation Need for Speed, according to Deadline. It would seem a good fit for the helmer, as he knows a lot about crashing cars having spent the last couple of decades as a stuntman.
John Gatins (Real Steel) and his brother George Gatins (She’s Out of My League) have developed the videogame adaptation together, with George Gatins set to write the script. No story details are known, but the studio is hoping to start a franchise in the same vein as The Fast and the Furious.
Electronic Arts released the 18th installment in their Need for Speed video game franchise in November, with the plot-driven title Need for Speed: The Run. It isn’t known when a film version might shoot.
