Getting caught up in a violent coup would be quite an intense thing to have to deal with, but it would good if you had James Bond there to help you. A few days ago it was revealed that Owen Wilson was attached to a film called The Coup, and now THR reports he’s got some company in the form of Pierce Brosnan.
The Coup is a thriller about an American family, headed by Owen Wilson, who move to Southeast Asia and finds themselves embroiled in a violent coup where rebels mercilessly attack the city. According to producer Steve Alexander, “Having Pierce step into the role of a mysterious and ultimately heroic government operative is the perfect compliment to Owen’s everyman dilemma. We’re thrilled to have him on board.
If he’s a government operative, does that mean he’ll be playing on his status as an ex-007? John Erick Dowdle (Devil, Quarantine) will direct from a script he co-wrote with his brother Drew. Filming will begin in October in Southeast Asia.
