Steve Carell loves attaching himself to movie, as it seems he’s got a new one on his roster every week. Now he’s added another one, as Hollywood.com reports that he’s now attached to Magic Kingdom for Sale – SOLD!, based on the book by Terry Brooks.
The film will see Carell as widowed lawyer Ben Holiday, who finds an ad offering the magical kingdom of Landover for the seemingly bargain price of $1 million. Holiday quickly snaps up the country and heads over to check out his newly purchased property. However, he very quickly discovers that hes in over his head, as he struggles to unite his subjects against an evil demon.
Craig Wright is on scripting duties, with Akiva Goldsman producing. Stephen Sommers was previously attached to direct, but he’s since moved on. The film is being pitched as a family friendly blockbuster that’s being eyed as a franchise, as Magic Kingdom for Sale – SOLD! is the first of six books Brooks has written about Landover.
