Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol has moved a little closer to the big screen, with Deadline reporting that Game Change screenwriter Danny Strong signing on to write the screenplay, taking over from Steven Knight who came up with the first draft.
Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go) is set to direct after Ron Howard opted out. Brown’s book continues the adventures of The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons’s Robert Langdon. While he’s previously been flitting around Europe, this time he’s in Washington DC, unlocking the symbols of the Freemasons and a mystery lock in some of America’s most inconic buildings.
While he won’t direct, Ron Howard is still set to produce with his Imagine Entertainment partner Brian Grazer, although it isn’t known when the movie will shoot.
