She may only be 19, but Selena Gomes is getting proactive about her career and adding a producer credit to her resumé. According to Deadline, her production company, July Moon, has optioned Jandy Nelson’s novel The Sky Is Everywhere, with the former Disney Channel star planning to both produce and star in a movie adaptation.
She will play 17-year old Lennie Walker, a bookworm and band geek who plays clarinet and lives in the shadow of her extroverted older sister, Bailey. When Bailey dies suddenly, her younger sibling is left to take centre stage and balance not one boy but two. One is his sisters grieving boyfriend, the other a musically inclined Parisian. Her whole world threatens to collapse all over again as she tries to juggle both guys.
It’s early days on the adaptation yet, so there’s no info on when it might shoot.
