If a movie’s been stuck in development hell since 2004, you’d have thought most people would have given up on it, however Walt Disney Pictures is sticking with Hovercar, as they’ve brought screenwriter Dan Harris (Superman Returns, X2: X-Men United) in to rewrite the script, according to THR.
The project is based on Matthew Riley’s young adult novel, which is set in a future where people travel via hovering cars, and hovercar racing is an elite sport. The story follows a young man who enters an internationally-renowned racing school.
Harris certainly isn’t the first to have a go at turning the tale into a working script, with the likes of David DiGilio, John Sayles, and Blaise Hemingway previously having a go. Smallville creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are producing Hovercar for Disney.
