The Coen Brothers upcoming movie, Inside Llewyn Davis may be surrounded by a little bit of mystery, but it’s certainly attracting a decent cast, with Carey Mulligan and Oscar Isaac already on board, and now it appears the auteur duo have offered another one of the lead roles to Justin Timberlake, according to Variety. That said, it isn’t known how interested the singer-turned-actor is.
Although we don’t a vast amount about Inside Llewyn Davis, we do know it focuses on the folk music scene in Greenwich Village in the 1960s and that the title character is loosely based on Dave Van Ronk (the film was inspired by his memoir), a folk singer who was friends with Bob Dylan, among other famous musicians.
Justin Timberlake would play the role of Jim, a folk musician married to Jean (Carey Mulligan). Drive’s Oscar Isaac will be the title character, a struggling folk musician born and bred in Queens. Despite being a talented singer and guitarist, he just can’t seem to make ends meet playing music. Shooting should start early next year, with or without Timberlake.
