Unless it turns out the producers are just messing with fans’ minds, it appears the title of the new James Bond movie has been revealed. Eagle-eyed WhatCulture spotted that Sony Pictures has registered internet URLs such as skyfall-themovie.net and jamesbond-skyfall.com, which suggest Bond 23 will be called Skyfall.
It’s already set off a storm over whether it’s a good title or not, and there’s a chance Sony knew what would happen when it registered the URLs and is using it to test what people think (especially after the generally negative reaction to the title Quantum of Solace). To be honest, I don’t reckon it’s a bad title at all, and fits will into the long tradition of names that don’t mean much on their own, but do suggest action and drama (Thunderball, Goldeneye, etc.).
It’s certainly a lot better than the other title that’s been rumoured, Carte Blanche. However, as yet there’s been no confirmation about what the film will be named (it’s normally announced as a big press event), but be do know it’ll be hitting cinemas Autumn 2012.
