It seems writers/directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, the team behind Half Nelson, Sugar and It’s Kind Of A Funny Story, have settled on the movie they want to make next. They’re busy putting together a movie called Hate Mail, according to Variety.
The drama will feature interweaving stories about several Manhattanites who encounter all sorts of different iterations of hate mail and grapple with the subsequent fallout of their relationships. That’s all the information we get, but it basically sounds like a Crash-style ensemble drama, which is a little more ambitious than they’ve tried before (at least technically), but still not a leap into the mainstream – although it may start seeming a lot more mainstream if they can get a to flight cast together.
Production should begin in spring 2012.
