Chris Columbus could do with a hit. A few years ago he was riding high on the likes of Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire and the first two Harry Potter movies, but since then the likes of Rent, I Love You Beth Cooper and Percy Jackson have rather taken the shine off his directing star.
He’ll be hoping The Secret Lives Of Road Crews can become a success, as Deadline reports that he’s signed on to helm the movie. While it sounds like the title of a rather poncey novel, Secret Lives is actually about a clandestine group of road crew workers who are the last line of defense against a subterranean alien race. So a sort of tarmac-ing Men In Black then.
Kevin Lund and T.J. Scott which has been purchased by Paramount and now has Craig Mazin on rewrite duties. However this is the sort of film that always struggles to get from development onto film (indeed, the spec script was first purchased several years ago and has taken this long to get this far), so don’t be surprised if it never actually gets made.
