Actor Josh Gad has joined the growing cast of the indie comedy Thanks for Sharing alongside Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins, Gwyneth Paltrow and Joely Richardson, according to Variety. The Kids Are All Right screenwriter Stuart Blumberg makes his directorial debut with Thanks for Sharing, working from the original screenplay he co-wrote with Matt Winston.
The story centres on a support group for sex addicts, who try and beat their addictions and form meaningful relationships for the first time. Gad will play an uninhibited addict, who cuts corners through recovery until Mark Ruffalo’s character becomes his sponsor.
While Gad had popped up in the likes of 21 and Love & Other Drugs, it’s his turn on Broadway in musical The Book of Mormon, by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, that’s really got people talking about him. He was singled out for extra praise in nearly every review of the production and recently received a Tony nomination.
Thanks For Sharing starts shooting later this month in New York City.
