When watching Source Code, it’s difficult not to think there’s potential there for a TV series. Now it look like that’s exactly what may happen, as THR reports that producer Mark Gordon has made a deal with CBS to bring Source Code to out television screens.
The series will takes the basic idea of the film – a secret programme that allows someone to relive the last eight minutes of someone who’s died in a tragic event – and turn it into a procedural following three former federal agents who in each episode will investigate a different tragedy, jumping into the last minutes of the victims. So it’s basically CSI meets Quantum Leap.
However, what’s really intriguing is whether the TV show will continue with some of the things that are revealed towards the end of the Source Code film, both about the reality of those who are jumping into other people’s lives and the quauntum physics possibilities of what going back means (and I hope that was as un-spoilery as possible, while being clear to those who’ve seen the movie). If it does, it could make for a very intriguing and interesting show.
The TV pilot will be penned by Steven Maeda (Lie to Me, Lost). Mark Gordon produced Source Code, but also has a lot of experience in TV, acting as an exec producer on the likes of Reaper, Grey’s Anatomy and Criminal Minds, so he certainly has the background to turn Source Code into successful show.
