Millions around the world will be crying today, as a couple of weeks ago it looked like Chris Tucker would be taking his first film role since 2007’s Rush Hour 3. However now it seems we’ll have to wait for the insanely annoying funnyman’s next role as Variety has revealed his possible part in Neighborhood Watch will now be played by IT Crowd actor Richard Ayoade.
The Brit actor’s career is certainly going place, with huge plaudits earlier this year for his directorial debut, Submarine, which led to interest in Hollywood for both his helming and acting skills. He’s set to play the role of the recently divorced Jamarcus in Neighborhood Watch, which is about a group of guys who set up a anti-crime group as an excuse to get away from their families for a while, but who end up uncovering conspiracy to take over the world.
Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, Nicholas Braun and Rosemarie DeWitt and already signed up to star, with Akiva Schaffer directing. Shooting is set to get underway in the next couple of months.
