In the last couple of months there have been hints and rumours that the long-gestating (but until recently assumed to be dead in the water) Jurassic Park IV was gaining momentum. We reported a few weeks ago that there were reports that Steven Spielberg has been meeting with Thor screenwriter Mark Protosevich to go over ideas for another installment in the franchise.
However the great bearded one himself has remained silent – until now! During his panel for The Adventures Of Tintin at Comic-Con, he took the opportunity to announce, “We have a story, I can happily announce right now. We have a writer… Hopefully, we’ll be making Jurassic Park IV in the near future. In the next two or three years.”
Rumours have suggested this latest installment is the first part of a planned trilogy, which will respect the previously movies but take things in a whole new direction.
During the same panel, Peter Jackson also had a little to say about Jurassic Park, telling the audience that it was the movie that turned him on to digital effects and inspired him to set up his effects company, Weta Digital. That gave us the Lord Of The Rings and now things have come full circle with Weta doing the CG work on Spielberg’s Tintin, which Jackson is producing.
