New Posters: John Carter (of Mars) – Plus, Straw Dogs remake and another for Deathly Hallows 2

16th June 2011 By Tim Isaac

New posters have shown up online for a few films, including John Carter, the remake of Straw Dogs, and another one (the 687,245th) for Harry Potter And The Death Hallows Part 2. You can see the John Carter one above, which is our first official look at the film, while the others are belwo.

Previously called John Carter Of Mars, the film, based on Edgar Rice Burrough sci-fi tale, tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter, who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet. In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realises that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands. Andrew Stanton (Wall-E, Finding Nemo) is directing, with Taylor Kitsch playing the title role, and Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe, Mark Strong, Thomas Hayden Church, Samantha Morton and Bryan Cranston starring alongside him (some in CG alien form). It’ll be in cinemas next March. (Image via JoBlo)

Who knew anoth Harry Potter movie was coming out? Warner Bros has been so quiet about it! The pic above is the villains version of a heroes poster we featured a couple days ago (see that here). Harry’s got his side, and Voldemort has his. Who will win? Well, barring a major plot twist upset, I think you probably have a pretty good idea, especially if you’ve read the book. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 is out July 15th (at least we hope that’s what ‘It All Ends’ refers to, and it’s not a revised date for the Rapture or anything). The poster for the remake of Straw Dogs has shown up online, which may ring a few bells with some people. The reason for that is that it’s a new take on the poster for the orignal film, which starred Dustin Hoffman and was directed by Sam Peckinpah. We’ve included the classic original one below, for you to compare to the new one. Straw Dogs is out in September. (Image via Comingsoon)
