You may not know Sam Claflin from Adam at the moment, but expect to hear much more about him in the next few weeks, as we approach what may well be his breakthrough role in Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Having a part in that franchise has already ensured Hollywood interest, and so he’s now been set to play the Prince in Snow White and the Huntsman.
Sam Claflin joins a cast that includes Kristen Stewart as Snow White and Charlize Theron as her wicked wicstepmother. Universal Pictures is still having trouble locking down the Huntsman role (Tom Hardy, Viggo Mortensen and Hugh Jackman have already turned it down), although we reported earlier this week that the studio is eyeing Thor star Chris Hemsworth, but it isn’t known if he will accept the part yet or not.
When Hemsworth’s name came up, there was speculation Universal was skewing the film towards a romance between Snow White and the Huntsman, which would rather leave the Prince out in the cold, but we’ll have to see.
Rupert Sanders is directing Snow White and the Huntsman from a screenplay by Evan Daugherty. It isn’t known when production will start on Snow White and the Huntsman yet, but it’s already been set for release December 21st, 2012.
