Normally when we announce that a director has been hired for a project, it’s for a movie that’s at least 18 months away. However the Paranormal Activity franchise doesn’t quite work that way, and so although they’ve got less than six months to deliver the product for its October 21st release, Catfish directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman have just signed on to direct Paranormal Activity 3, according to Bloody Digusting.
Paranormal Activity 2 writer Christopher B. Landon wiis on screenplay duties for Paranormal Activity 3, although unsurprisingly no plot details were given for the film, but it’s a fair bet to expect it’ll involve more creepy goings on in a house.
Jason Blum, Steven Schneider, and original Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli will produce Paranormal Activity 3 along with Ariel Schulman. Akiva Goldsman will executive produce. It isn’t clear when production will start on Paranormal Activity 3, or if Paranormal Activity stars Katie Featherstone and Micah Sloat will return.
It’s technically Joost and Schulman’s first narrative feature, but with many claiming Catfish wasn’t quite as truthful as it first appeared, they may already have some experience in the ‘mock documentary’ field.
