Oh how the mighty have fallen. In the late 80s and 90s, Joel Schumacher was one fo the biggest directors around, but following high profile failures like Batman & Robin and Phantom Of The Opera – where he got it in the neck from critics and audiences for his excesses – he’s been reduced to being a bit of a jobbing directing picking up whatever he can get.
Now he’s got a new one, as Variety reports that he’s signed onto helm the new thriller The Hive for Troika Pictures. Richard D’Ovidio (13 Ghosts) is writing this suspense-thriller, about a 911 operator who is forced to confront a killer from her past in order to save the life of a young girl. Yep, sounds a bit ‘blah’ to me too.
It isn’t known when production will begin, but Schumacher will be hoping it does a lot better than his recent movies, as even his recent low budget movie Twelve, which starred Chace Crawford, Rory Culkin and 50 Cent, was a major disaster.
