Travolta & Thurman Up For Savages – Along with Blake Lively & Emile Hirsch

25th April 2011 By Tim Isaac

After Pulp Fiction they got back together for Be Cool and now they’re doing it again for Oliver Stone’s Savages, as John Travolta and Uma Thurman, along with Blake Lively and Emle Hirsch, have all joined Stone’s drug cartel drama, according to Deadline and Variety.

In Savages, Taylor Kitsch plays former Navy SEAL Chon (the actor has already begun training with the real SEALs) who along with Aaron Johnson’s Ben, are best friends who grow pot, living with their trippy shared girlfriend O. Their marijuana is so good that the Mexican cartel tries to coerce them into working for the cartel. When they refuse, the cartel kidnaps O and charges a heavy ransom to get her back. The growers pay the ransom by covertly ripping off the cartel’s own shipments, a most dangerous game.

Lively has signed up to play O, a role that originally slated for Jennifer Lawrence, but she bailed to play the lead in The Hunger Games instead, leaving the way open for the Gossip Girl star. John Travolta meanwhile will play Dennis, a burned out DEA agent, will Uma Thurman will play O’s mom, Paqu – so little chance of another iconic dance scene, then. Variety had the news on Hirsch, although they don’t specify what role he’ll play/

Salma Hayek has previously signed up to play the role of Mexican cartel queen-pin Elena, while Benicio Del Toro will be the vicious cartel enforcer Lado. Production begins in early July.
