Director Timur Bekmambetov has found his villain for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, with Variety reporting that Rufus Sewell has signed onto the project.
Sewell will play the lead vampire Adam, although no specific details were given about his character. He joins a cast that includes Benjamin Walker in the title role, as well ass Anthony Mackie, Dominic Cooper, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jimmi Simpson, and Alan Tudyk.
Timur Bekmambetov will direct Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter from a script by Seth Grahame-Smith, who adapted his own novel. The story centers on 16th President Abraham Lincoln, who it turns out was secretly a vampire hunter, whose life was driven by trying to destroy the bloodsuckers who took the life of his mother when he was a young boy.
Production apparently started last month in New Orleans, although you wouldn’t have thought too much can have been shot yet if they’ve only just got a villain and several other roles – John Wilkes Booth and Edgar Allen Poe among them – are yet to be cast.
