It seems that despite his success in the States, James McAvoy hasn’t given up on Britain completely, as Deadline reports that he’s in final talks to star in the UK crime thriller Welcome to the Punch, which will likely be his follow-up to X-Men: First Class.
Eran Creevy (Shifty) will direct from his own screenplay. Little is known about the plot, except that it’s a London-set crime thriller that Creevy has described as an epic crime thriller in the mould of Heat or Internal Affairs. Don’t take that literally though, as filmmakers and producers love hyperbole, and would happily say a dog poop was in the style of a gold nugget if it helped sell their movie – but hey, maybe this is the next crime classic, and getting McAvoy onboard certainly helps.
Eran Creevy made his directorial debut with Shifty in 2008, which was produced for only $150,000, and was nominated for a BAFTA for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Producer, or Director.
