While Universal has been busy getting the stars of the original American Pie movies to sign on for the planned sequel, American Reunion, one name that’s been oddly absent from recent reports is that of Alyson Hannigan, the Buffy and How I Met You Mother star who memorably played the flute-loving Michelle in the three original Pie movies (we’ll forget the straight-to-DVD ones ever happened).
However it appears her name was missed off more because negotiations were ongoing than for any other reason. Due to the fact that a major part of the plot, which sees all the guys meeting up for a high school runions, revolves around her marriage to Jim (Jason Biggs) and the child they have together, she was probably able to negotiate a very good deal for herself, which delayed her announcement as part of the cast.
She now joins the officially signed on Biggs, Seann William Scott and Eugene Levy, while it was recently reported Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, Thomas Ian Nicholas, and Jennifer Coolidge are all in talks as well. Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg will write and direct American Reunion, with the plan to shoot the movie over the summer, while Hannigan is on hiatus from How I Met Your Mother. (Source: Deadline)
