Alec Baldwin has a lot to thank 30 Rock for, as while his screaming at his daughter could have seen him thrown into the doghouse like Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen, the fact he was being funny on TV every week seems to have made everyone quickly forget about that. That said, Woody Allen would be a bit of a hypocrite if he had passed over Baldwin because he’s been involved in a scandal involving an ex-wife and a daughter.
Now Deadline reports that Allen has signed Baldwin for his upcoming new Rome set movie. As nearly always with Woody, at the moment little is known about the movie, other than its setting (which once more is part of Allen’s brand tour of Europe), so Baldwin’s role is currently completely obscure. It’s not the first time they’ve worked together though, as they collaborated on 1990’s Alice.
Jesse Eisenberg may also take a lead role in the flick, but there’s little info on that at the moment.
During his hiatus from 30 Rock this summer, Alec Baldwin will also shoot a role in the musical Rock Of Ages, so it should be a good summer for him. And we’d better soak it up while we can, as he’s hinted he’ll do one more season of the sitcom and then retire from acting and go into politics, but we’ll have to wait and see if that actually happens.
