Josh Pence, who’s probably best known for providing the body of one of the Winklevoss twins in Social Network (Armie Hammer was the face of both), is going to prove he’s got a head too, as THR reports that he’s been cast in The Dark Knight Rises.
It’s an interesting role he’s got too, suggesting that reports the film will bring the tirlogy full-circle are more than just finding a way to talk about Chris Nolan’s super-secretive movie, as Pence will play a young Ra’s Al Ghul in the movie, suggesting the flick will feature flashbacks to the early days of Liam Neeson’s character in Batman Begins, 30 years before what’s happening in the main story.
It makes sense, as Marion Cottillard is rumoured to be playing Talia Al Ghul, the daughter of Batman’s mentor turned enemy. It certainly seems as if the focus of the film will be on whether Batman merely fights against the bad guys, or if his presence actually makes things worse as criminals copy him and vendettas are made.
Pence joins a cast including Cottillard, Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tom Hardy. Shooting is expected to start in May for a summer 2012 release.
