The first proper images from the remake of Fright Night have appeared over at Cinematical, which you can see above and below. I say the first ‘proper’ pics, as previously there was an image of David Tenant, but that was from a piece of set dressing, so can’t really be classed as a genuine first look image.
There’s no Tenant here, and indeed these images concentrate on making the movie look scarier and darker that its comedy-horror 1980s predecessor. However Tenant’s probably not around as in the US, he’s not as well known as Colin Farrell, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Anton Yelchin, who do feature in these pics.
Here’s the film’s synopsis: ‘High school senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: hes running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, hes so cool hes even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but theres something not quite rightbut everyone, including Charlies mom (Toni Collette), doesnt notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.’
Oh, and in case you’re wondering, it’s in recruiting Tennant’s magician who claims in his stage act that he’s a vampire hunter, that Charlie thinks he’s found the answer. Fright Night is currently due out September 2nd.
