After a long time in development, the film version of the 80s TV series 21 Jump Street is finally coming together, with Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum and Ice Cube already cast, and now Rob Riggle in talks to play the villain.
Like the Johnny Depp starring TV show, the film will be about a group of young cops who are sent undercover into a high school to pose as students (in case you’re wondering, Ice Cube’s not trying to fool anyone as a high school kid, he’s the chief who sens Tatum and Hill in). However this will be more comedy than drama. Assuming Riggle signs on, THR reports that he’ll play a member of D.A.D. – Dads Against Drugs – who has a burn-marked face and is secretly the main drug supplier.
Riggle is a former Daily Show correspondent who’s popped up in everything from Killers, The Hangover and Step Brothers, to The Others and the upcoming Larry Crowne.
21 Jump Street is schedules to start shooting next week.
