Last week it was revealed that Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first project now his term as California Governor has ended would be an animated TV series called The Governator, in which Arnie’s animated alter-ego retires from politic and becomes a superhero crime-fighter.
However what wasn’t said at the time was that the plans for The Governator are bigger than that, with the press conference about the project revealing that they also hope to turn it into a live action 3D movie, a comic book and internet programming. According to Deadline, the feature film will be ready in early 2013, after the Stan Lee produced animated series lauches in 2012. However, saying you want to make a live-action movie and actually having the money to do it are very different things.
It’ll be interesting to see if Arnie gets this one off the ground – and even if he doesn’t, he has plenty more scripts that he’s mulling over as he plots his return to the big screen.
Also emanating from the press conference was a trailer for the animated series, which to be honest looks about as 1980s as it’s possible to get. Will modern audiences respond to this, or is Arnie overplaying the nostalgia and desire for his return? Click below to take a look.
