She may be wanted for the musical Rock Of Ages, but it doesn’t look like they’re going to get her, as Amy Adams has landed the coveted role of Lois Lane in Zack Snyder’s Superman. According to The LA Times, the director only told the actress on Sunday morning she’d got the role, so they’re certainly not hanging about to announce it to the world.
Here’s what Zack Snyder had to say about the actress, “There was a big, giant search for Lois. For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”
It isn’t known how large the Lois Lane role is, although there will be a contemporary take on the character, with Snyder saying, “It goes back to what I’ve said about Superman and making him really understandable for today. What’s important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance].”
The announcement also suggests we should be careful about disinformation surrounding Superman, as previous rumours had suggested Lois might not even be in the movie, and that they didn’t want anyone too famous for the main female parts, so they didn’t overshadow relative movie newbie, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent. She may not be top of the a-list, but Adams is certainly a well-known name. However she’s also a very good choice for the role, as she can be surprisingly tough, and yet still sweet and nice at the same time.
