After the delays over whether Matt Damon would return for a fourth Jason Bourne flick, followed by the decision to reboot things with a new actor in the lead role (although the door will be left open for Damon to return, as this is supposedly a prequel to his trilogy), Universal Pictures is now in casting mode for The Bourne Legacy, testing several prominent actors for the highly coveted lead role.
According to Deadline, actors such as Joel Edgerton, Garrett Hedlund, Dominic Cooper, and Luke Evans are already set to screentest for the role at the beginning of April.
There are others still in the mix though, with interest being shown in Logan Marshall-Green, while Universal also likes Shia LaBeouf (although he will not test) and Taylor Kitsch (who’s already met with writer-director Tony Gilroy).
Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, Kellan Lutz and numerous other were on a previous list of contenders to play a young Jason Bourne, although it isn’t know if they still have a chance at the role.
