With director Zack Snyder busy promoting his fantasy adventure Sucker Punch, many have been trying to pump him for info on his upcoming Superman flick. However while he’s being fairly enigmatic, new rumours suggest that Edgar Ramirez and/or Michael Shannon could be in line to play someone villainous opposite Henry Cavill’s Clark Kent.
For a while it was believed that Viggo Mortensen was up for the role of Zod, but Zack Snyder has denied that. Indeed, while the presumption is that General Zod will be the bady guy, even that hasn’t been confirmed. Snyder has even suggested they’re trying to stay away from those we’ve already seen on the big screen (Zod was played by Terrence Stamp in Superman and Superman II), so the main bad guy could be someone completely different.
Whoever the baddie is, Latino Review suggests Édgar Ramírez, best known for Carlos The Jackal, and who will be seen in the upcoming Wrath Of The Titans, while Deadline suggest there’s ‘interest’ in Michael Shannon. It all sounds as if nothing’s been worked out yet, so don’t be shocked if neither of these actors ends up with the role.
