In what sounds like it should be a pretty good fit, Easy A director Will Gluck is in talks to develop and direct Sony’s adaptation of the book Sex on the Moon.
Sony acquired the rights to Ben Mezrich’s upcoming non-fiction book back in January, and while it isn’t published until July, the studio seems keen to get the adaptation up and running as soon as possible. The true-life tale is about Thad Roberts, a 25-year-old intern at NASA who hatches a plan to steal moon rocks from the Johnson Space Center, to impress his girlfriend.
Another Ben Mezrich book, The Accidental Billionaires, served as the basis for the Oscar-nominated drama The Social Network, and the team of producers behind that film – Scott Rudin, Michael De Luca, and Dana Brunetti – will do the same here, with Kevin Spacey serving as executive producer.
It’s certainly the sort of thing Gluck seems to have a talent and could make for a fun film.
