While his How I Met Your Mother co-stars, such as Jason Segel and Neil Patrick Harris, have used the sitcom as a springboard to other things, the show’s other main male star, Josh Radnor, has been conspicuous by his absence outside the TV series.
That’s probably because he’s been waiting to really put on a show, not just starring in movies, but also writing and directing them. He recently completed Happythankyoumoreplease and now THR reports that he’s lining up the indie love story, Liberal Arts.
Radnor will direct from a script he’s written about a 35 year-old (Radnor) who’s still yearning for the life of a college student, but must come to terms with his age and responsibilities. Elizabeth Olsen will play a 19-year-old college student who falls for Radnor’s character over a shared love of music and literature. She wants to make it work with the man but her immaturity makes it impossible for her to see the obvious obstacles.
To be honest, it sounds pretty tedious, but hopefully Radnor’s sitcom apprenticeship can make it work.
