Just yesterday we reported on Doug Liman’s plans to make a movie about the bodyguard of Chinese revolutionary Sun Yat-sen, with many presuming that meant all his other projects had fallen through. However now THR has revealed that a sci-fi project he first started working on in 2007 over at Dreamworks is now picking up steam at Paramount.
Previously called Luna, the currently untitled movie is about ‘a renegade group of former space employees, led by an Eastern European woman, who travel the world, stealing space equipment in an attempt to go back to the moon to acquire an energy source. The last item to steal – or in this case, kidnap – is an ex-NASA employee.’
While Jake Gyllenhaal was attached at Dreamworks and was still involved when Paramount first took over, he’s since moved on, and Liman is now busy trying to find his lead actors. He wants to shoot the film in late summer (although the green light hasn’t yet been given) and so has started taking meetings with the likes of Rosario Dawson, Megan Fox, Rachel McAdams, Eva Mendes, Zoe Saldana, Olivia Wilde, Andrew Garfield, Emile Hirsch and Chris Pine. Liman is apparently planning to meet with others too, in the hopes of putting his main cast together in the next few weeks.
