After being in development for aeons without getting very far, the Coen Brothers scripted Gambit is finally pulling itself together, with Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz set to star. Now two more names have been anounced for the film – Alan Rickman and Sir Tom Courtenay.
The movie, based on the 1966 British caper comedy which starred Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine, centres on Harry Deane (Firth), a London art curator who enlists a Texas Rodeo Queen (Diaz) in a scheme to con the richest man in England. Rickman will portray Lord Shahbandar (played by Herbert Lom in the 1966 movie), while Sir Tom Courtenay will step into the role of The Major.
Michael Hoffman (The Last Station) is set to direct, with shooting begining in May in London.
