Matthew Fox and Edward Burns have joined the cast of I, Alex Cross, an adaptation of the James Patterson novel, which will attempt to reboot the detective franchise following the Morgan Freeman starring Kiss The Girls and Along Came A Spider. It is the first major role Matthew Fox has landed since Lost ended its seven-season run last May.
Tyler Perry will be portraying the title character, while Burns will be be Cross’ partner, Tommy Kane. Matthew Fox meanwhile gets to take on the the villain, Michael Sullivan, a killer known as the Butcher of Silgo, who murders for both money and thrills. However after he is stopped by Cross, he vows revenge on the detective in a very personal and bloody ways, leading to an almighty battle of wills.
Rob Cohen will direct from a script by Mark Moss. It is said the duo have come up with some new twists that aren’t in the novel.
The project hasn’t landed at a studio yet, although there are at least three that are vying for the distribution rights. (Source: Deadline)
