With production on the second half of Men In Black III delayed due to the fact they can’t get the script to work (they’ve filmed the modern day part, but the section set in 1969 is currently on hold), Alec Baldwin has been forced to drop out of the film.
The actor told THR, “I’m not doing that. I’m out of it; the schedule didn’t work out.” That’s not too suprising, as Baldwin was supposed to be fitting playing the head of MIB in the 1960s around his work on 30 Rock, but with the delays which mean the Men In Black III shoot won’t restart until later this month instead of February, he simply can’t do it.
However he won’t be completely off the big screen, as he’s currently preparing to shoot Rock Of Ages, saying “I’m excited to be able to work with Tom [Cruise] and Adam [Shankman]. I love Adam he directed the Oscars when I hosted but to do a movie with Tom will be fun.”
Baldwin will play former rocker Dennis Dupree, but don’t expect him to be continually bursting into song in the musical, as he says his vocal contribution will be something very modest; I might sing ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah,’ or something like that.” However he’s still taking it seriously and has hired a voice coach.
