What if the world were ruled by nerds and fanboys? Many would say that with geek chic and the like, it now is, with the traditional jock relegated to a meathead stereotype only idiots would want to live up to. However I’d imagine on the ground in schools it feels rather different.
However Jackass 3D director Jeff Tremaine wants to create a truly nerd-ruled world in Revenge Of The Jocks, which takes the premise of the classic 80s comedy Revenge of the Nerds and turns it upside down. THR reports the movie is about three men, all popular jocks in high school, who find themselves trying to adapt to a new world run by geeks, nerds and fanboys. While back in their heyday, the jocks tormented the nerds, now the table have been turned and they’ve become the tormentees, with many of the nerds more than happy to lay into the new social underclass.
Tremaine, who helmed the Jackass movies, has signed on to direct the Warner Bros. comedy, with Jeff Baena (I Heart Huckabees) hired to rewrite Rami and Etan Cohen original script.
It’s a premise that does sound like it could be fun – and perhaps even thought provoking – but this is Hollywood, so don’t expect too much in the way of social commentary.
