It’s been revealed that while she could have gone completely Hollywood following her female lead role in the upsoming Captain America, Hayley Atwell is staying down to earth by joining the the cast of the upcoming noir thriller I, Anna for director Barnaby Southcombe. Oddly, while we normally hear about casting long before a film’s been shot, this one actually wrapped last weekend and so Atwell’s already been in front of the cameras for this one.
The actress reunited with Charlotte Rampling for the film, after both appeared in The Duchess. I, Anna will revolve around Rampling’s character, whose life is turned upside down after a bad first date ends up in murder. Soon a policeman is trying to track her down, but despite her life as a middle-aged, middle-class, divorced, respectable woman, Anna becomes a bit of a femme fatale, with the detective (Gabriel Byrne) dealing with an impossible love for her. Hayley Atwell will play Anna’s daughter, Emmy.
Barnaby Southcombe will make his feature directorial debut, working from a script he adapted from the Elsa Lewin novel of the same name. Eddie Marsan, Jodhi May, Bill Milner, and Honor Blackman also co-star.
