It seems that after the the upcoming drama The Raven and the cop thriller The Factory, John Cusack fancies a bit of comedy, as Variety reports that he’ll star in Dictablanda, a movie whose title apparently translates as ‘Soft Dictator’.
There’s not much info on the plot, other than that it’s a comedy of manners about international mayhem, and that the tagline is People dont die, they get killed. Hopefully that’ll make more sense when we actually know more about the movie, but on its own it’s a pretty cheesy tagline.
Alejandro Agresti, who hasn’t made anything since the 2006 Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock pic The Lake House, is down to the the film, from a script he wrote with Cusack, Kevin Morris and Paul Hipp.
Although it all sounds a little underwhelming, Cusack has often picked projects that turn out to be far better than they first seem, partly because he’s in them. Hopefully this’ll be one of those.
