With Jackass 3D turning into a sizable hit and a bit of cash cow for Paramount Pictures, it seems it’s made the studio remember who Johnny Knoxville is, as Deadline reports they’re shaping two movies around the actor with First Man and Mustache Riders, the latter of which should even bring the Jackass crew along for the ride
First Man comes from Max Winkler and Matt Spicer, the writer-director and producer behind the upcoming comedy Ceremony. Knoxville will play a man whose wife is running for President. A wild man at heart, he has calmed down during her campaign, although he feels the need to cut loose once more after his wife becomes the President and he becomes the First Man.
Mustache Riders, on the other hand, has been in development since 2008, and comes from the Broken Lizard comedy troupe. The story centres on a trio of low-rent thieves who seek out the buried treasure of an aging outlaw. Johnny Knoxville will star alongside his Jackass 3D co-stars Bam Margera and Ryan Dunn. Willie Nelson is also attached to star, presumably as the old outlaw. The script for Mustache Riders is currently being re-worked so Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera and Ryan Dunn can perform all their own stunts, and basically turn it into Jackass with a story.
At the moment it’s uncertain when either of the movies will go into production.
