The two part Hobbit adaptation, which has long been in the works and is just about to start filming, may be one of the most anticipated franchise extensions for years, but oddly there’s been little talk about what the movies will actually be called when they reach cinemas. Many have just been presuming it’ll be The Hobbit: Part I and Part II, but it appears the makers are following the lead of Lord Of The Rings and giving each film a subtitle.
So what will they be? Well, nothing’s official yet, but New Line has registered two monikers for the LotR prequels, which follow Bilbo Baggins on his adventure to retrieve treasure from the marauding dragon Smaug with the help of a dwarf army.
The first is the full title of the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien: The Hobbit: There and Back Again, while the second is: The Hobbit: An/The Unexpected Journey. This registry is the first indication of what The Hobbit and The Hobbit Sequel’s full titles will be, but neither has been officially confirmed by New Line, Warner Bros, or Peter Jackson.
So don’t take it as official yet, but it’s looking like this is what the movies will be called when they arrive in cinemas November 2012 and 2013.
