Peter Stormare, a man who’s entire career seems to consist of a series of playing a series of dodgy and unpleasant characters, has signed on to be a crooked lawman in Paramount/MGM’s 3D movie, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, starring Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, and Famke Janssen.
According to Deadline, Peter Stormare will play a villainous town sheriff called ‘Berringer’. The film itself catches up with Hansel and Gretel 15 years after their incident involving a gingerbread house. The siblings have evolved into bounty hunters who hunt witches, and in particular are looking for the coven that caused their sweet-tooth related childhood troubles, which is headed by Janssen’s evil sorceress.
Tommy Wirkola, who made the suprisingly good Nazi zombie horror-comedy, Dead Snow, is directing Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters from a script he co-wrote with D.W. Harper. Adam McKay, Will Ferrell, and Chris Henchy are producing and it should be in cinemas March 2nd, 2012.
