It seems The King’s Speech producers Iain Canning and Emile Sherman want to ride the Jersey Shore wave with their their next project, called American English. Variety reports that they’ll team with producer Christina Piovesan for a film that sounds a little like Jersey Shore meets Madonna.
The story centres on a New Jersey woman who moves to London and tries to vanquish any trace of her Jersey roots. After she becomes engaged, she risks her background being exposed when her mother comes to visit. The project is said to be a modern-day take on the British romantic comedies of the late 1990s.
Ian Iqbal Rashid (How She Move) will write and direct American English, with producers hoping to start shooting later this year.
