If everything had gone as planned, the movie Adaline would have been in cinemas imminently. However as often happens in Holywood, a project that’s busy putting all the pieces in place suddenly falls to bits, and the producers are left to start over. So with previous directors and actors having deserted the film, they’re now back to square one and in talks with The Pursuit of Happyness and 7 Pounds filmmaker Gabriele Muccino to direct the film.
The movie has seen its fair share of departures, with Katherine Heigl leaving the project in November so she could concentrate on raising her newly adopted child. Andy Tennant had previously been attached to direct, although it seems he has stepped away from Adaline as well.
The story centres on a woman who was born at the start of the 20th Century and, through an unforeseen accident, becomes immortal. After decades of her lonely existence, she finally meets a man who she would risk becoming mortal for.
If Gabriele Muccino signs on, he will direct from a script by J. Mills Goodloe. The producers are hoping to start principal photography by January 2012.
