The Brad Pitt movie, Cogan’s Trade has a new cast member, this time someone who has a history in films about the mob, and who should add a little organised crime cachet to the production. Ray Liotta has become the latest to join the high-profile cast of Andrew Dominik’s Cogan’s Trade.
THR, which reported the news on Liotta, also confirms Mark Ruffalo and Javier Bardem as cast members, however The Playlist spoke to Ruffalo’s reps, who say he isn’t in the movie after all. James Gandolfini, Sam Rockwell, Vincent Curatola, Richard Jenkins and Bella Heathcote should be in the flick though, as should Casey Affleck, who’s long been rumoured but is yet to be officially announced.
Ray Liotta will play Mark “Markie” Trautmann, a gambler who sets up a poker game in a motel room, which is later robbed, despite being run under mob protection. Pitt will play the mafia enforcer who investigates the robbery.
Andrew Dominik is directing Cogan’s Trade from a script he adapted from the George V. Higgins novel. Production will start later this month, with filming to take place in New Orleans.
