It’s been quite a struggle to get Atlas Shrugged on the screen. For over 20 years people have been trying, and at one point not long ago it looked like it was going to go ahead with Charlize Theron starring and would get made with a decent budget. However when that fell through, John Aglialoro, the man who owns the rights to the book, had a problem. He’d have lost the rights to the novel if he didn’t start shooting a movie almost immediately, so he rounded up a no-name cast, and hired One Tree Hill actor Paul Johansson, who’d never directed a movie before, to helm the low budget flick. As a result we now have the trailer for what’s envisioned as the first of a four part adapatation of Ayn Rand’s dense tome, although with the film looking like a rather confusing TV flick, don’t expect to see Parts II-IV anytime soon. Indeed many have said making the film was more to ensure Agliaro could keep the right while he worked on getting a bigger version together, than because anyone wanted this one to succeed. But click below to take a look anyway.
